WordPress Plugins have evolved quickly over the past several months and so have YouTube’s API format and functionality.
Viper Video Quicktags is my favorite for embedding single Youtube Videos in posts or pages. This works great for showing a quick video about the topic you’re blogging about. The video is instantly embedded into the post once you paste the YouTube Video’s url into the plugin’s popup box (activated by a red YouTube button on the New Post page). You can control all aspects of the video’s appearance using the simple, yet in-depth configuration menu. This is really helpful if you ever change “themes” and need to modify the size of all the videos you’ve ever posted.
The TubePress WordPress Plugin is my favorite for creating galleries or sidebar widget lists of YouTube videos. You can create gallerys by inserting a shortcode in any page, then specifying a query to return whatever type of results you’re interested in. You can show 200 videos of “computer tutorials” with 30 per page, or show all of a specfic users videos, display videos from any playlist, and more. It’s extremely flexible and easy to use. It looks great too.
